Tony Martin is hoping he can finally get Anibale Fly back on the track in the Red Mills Chase at Gowran on Saturday.

The lack of suitable ground has restricted Anibale Fly to one run so far this winter, at Cork in December, and Martin is desperate to give him a prep outing ahead of the Magners Cheltenham Gold Cup next month.

“It looks like the Red Mills is our only option now. He’s in good form and we have done plenty with him since his run at Cork, but I’d like to get another run into him (before Cheltenham) to sharpen him up,” said the County Meath trainer.

“It’s been frustrating having to take him out a few times because of the ground and the race in Gowran could be very competitive, but that’s where we are at the moment.”

Owned by JP McManus, Anibale Fly excelled last spring, finishing third to Native River in the Gold Cup and going on to be fourth behind Tiger Roll in the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree.
