Enda Bolger believes next month's John Durkan Memorial Chase at Punchestown is the only real option as a starting point for Gilgamboa.

The seven-year-old landed Grade One Ryanair Gold Novice Chase at Fairyhouse back in April, capping a fine first season over fences.

He has been off the track since that outing and Bolger feels his hand is almost forced to start the progressive chaser off in the Grade One contest on December 6.

He said: "Gilgamboa is in the John Durkan and the plan is to start him off there.

"We're happy enough with him and it's the only race he's really eligible for. I'd prefer not to start off so hot, but he has to start there."

Bolger also confirmed Josies Order is likely to head back to Cheltenham for the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase on December 11 after landing a similar event at the Open meeting earlier this month.

The County Limerick handler could be double handed with Love Rory also in the frame for that event.

Bolger said: "The cross-country horses will be entered up for Cheltenham again for the Christmas meeting there in two weeks time.

"It falls into place for them. Josies Orders and Punchestown second Love Rory will be entered."
