Rizeena could have another crack at Amazing Maria in the Coolmore Mastercraftsman Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 12.

Clive Brittain's filly was unplaced behind the David O'Meara-trained grey in France on Sunday, the second time she has been unable to match the new level of form shown by Amazing Maria.

A lack of pace has been blamed for her performance, with nothing else coming to light.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Sheikh Rashid Dalmook Al Maktoum, said: "We were disappointed that she did not finish closer, but James (Doyle) felt there was not much pace in the race, which didn't help her, and he had to hold her further back than he wanted.

"Clive had said before the race that he'd never had her in a better condition. She travelled over well, as sometimes she can get a bit nervous and she seemed fine going into the race. We couldn't find any legitimate excuse, just that there was no pace.

"I suppose she will go the obvious route which would be the Matron then the Sun Chariot as there are no other races over a mile for her. If she goes over to Ireland, I imagine she will have to take on the O'Meara filly again."
