President to announce Irish team at Galway

President Michael D. Higgins will announce the travelling Irish team to face the Australians in the 40th Ireland V Australia Jockey Challenge at Galway this afternoon.

Team Manager Sean Lynch will be on hand along with jockeys Jonathan Burke and Jody McGarvey, who will join Niki O'Shea and Johnny Allen, both currently working in Australia, to make up the Irish team.

The announcement will take place after the fourth race (4.45pm) this afternoon.

President Higgins will also present the prizes for the feature event of the day, thetote.com Galway Plate, which goes to post at 5.30pm.

Tote Ireland will also give the winning groom of this year's race a prize of a hotel getaway to the five star Radisson Blu St Helens Resort.
