Zylan stuck on best inside the final furlong to gain the day in the claimer at Dundalk this evening.

Connor King produced his mount to challenge Torpedo Alley over a furlong from home in the mile contest.

Johnny Murtagh 's charge drifted left in the closing stages but the well backed 9/4 shot (from 11/4) got on top to record a neck victory.

2/1 favourite Strategic Force finished two-and-a-quarter lengths back in third.

The winner was recording his second career victory having also taken a maiden at the course last August.

"He's a bit more progressive than most of these, and I think he's better than a claimer. He'll probably attract a bit of interest,” said Murtagh.

"He was rated 78 but races are so competitive here and today was a good opportunity. It's nice to get a winner on the board."

The winner was claimed for €15,000 by Damian Lavelle, who has the likes of Jamesie, Seanie and Elleval in training with David Marnane.
