Tongie the 4/5 favourite, kept it simple in making all in Limerick's two mile three maiden hurdle.

Danny Mullins knew what he had in the tank as he asked his mount to go on and win the race at the second last.

Tongie kept on well after the last to close out the race by three and a half lengths from 20/1 shot Goodluck Noel Coolbane West was placed third at 5/2.

Handler Pat Fahy said: "He'd nearly want to be winning that but I bought him as a chaser.

"I'm to sure what we do with him now but I think he isn't at his best as a hurdler and could make a very relaxed and decent chaser. We could start schooling him over fences next week and then pick a suitable chase for him.

"He is owned by a very loyal owner Greg Coleman, from Cork city; without loyal owners you're at nothing."

Tongie stepped up on two runner-up finishes at Clonmel in April and October.
