Shell House saw off Taaluf in the extended mile and a quarter fillies’ handicap at Down Royal to score for Aidan O’Brien and Joseph O’Brien.

The three-year-old daughter of Galileo soon led and put an injection of pace into the race at the three pole. With a quarter of a mile to go she was hard ridden to go and win her race, however, Taaluf on the outside was starting to mount her challenge.

She closed on the leader, but couldn’t get on terms as O’Brien kept his mount gun-barrel straight along the rail. There was a length in it at the finish, in favour of the 10/11 favourite. Taaluf was second at 7/1.

Joseph O’Brien said: “She won nicely. She likes that ground and is uncomplicated. It’s nice to get another win with her.”

Shell House was following up on a win in a Naas maiden over a mile in June.
