Sempre Medici attempts to give Willie Mullins his fourth victory in the Red Mills Trial Hurdle in the last five runnings at Gowran Park on Saturday.

A classy performer on the level in France, he fell just short of the best novices around last term, although he did beat Identity Thief in a Fairyhouse Grade Two.

He has returned a better animal this campaign and after filling the runner-up berth when sent over to Cheltenham for the International Hurdle, he had a penalty kick in the Limestone Lad at Naas.

He must concede 6lb to each of his four rivals here but it will be disappointing if he can't successfully do so with the minimum of fuss.

Mullins is represented by Ballycasey in the Red Mills Chase, and the grey is entitled to step forward from his run in the Thyestes, when he was well fancied but only mid-division.

He takes on the progressive Henry de Bromhead inmate Smashing, as well as Pat Fahy's stable star Morning Assembly, who might be heading down a path that leads to the Aintree Grand National.

The opening www.gowranpark.ie Beginners Chase (1.40) has attracted just the four runners, and the Robert Tyner-trained Young Finnegan strives to build on an encouraging return from a long spell on the sidelines when third at this venue last month.

For a race comprising just the eight runners, the At The Races Careys Cottage Cup Handicap Chase is quite competitive, with a host of in-form contenders including the consistent Witness Of Fashion and Just Get Cracking, who was ahead of the reopposing Boher Call when second at Leopardstown.

Newberry New has kept good company and sets the standard in the Sea Moon & Shantou At Burgage Stud Maiden Hurdle, while Live Music After Racing Handicap Hurdle top-weight Page Turner is still well treated compared to his fencing mark and tries to supplement last month's course triumph.
