For the second time in as many races at Wexford the final flight claimed the horse in the lead as favourite Lipinski (fatal fall) came down when she had the race 'in the bag.' Again the beneficiaries were Paul Nolan and Mikey Fogarty as The Mooch took the spoils.

It was sickening for all involved in Lipinski including her rider Gary Noonan as he seemed poised to land his initial victory in the plate.

The Mooch (bringing up a double for his rider and trainer after Sardinia s win in the 2.30) eventually saw off Ontopoftheworld by a neck with seven lengths back to the third placed Flowerpicker

"I think I'll do the Lotto on the way home tonight! His jumping wasn't fluent and he would have finished a decent second, but he wasn't stopping. He was giving plenty of weight as well.

"We couldn't sell him at Newmarket, and this was his first run since then.

"He is owned by Nicky English (former Tipperary hurling star) and his cousin Roger. They bred him as well and they have the mother at home."

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Keep Swinging trained by Michael P. Hourigan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame post race.

Patrick Breen, trainer of Tamam Namoose reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge scoped badly post race.
