Mega Fortune showed improvement from his first run of the season to demolish his rivals in the extended mile and two handicap.

He tracked 2/1 joint favourite Dewdrop before being pushed along by Conor Hoban to take over with a quarter of a mile to race.

Hoban got after him on the approach to the straight and the gelding responded well as he moved well clear coming to the final furlong.

Hoban could afford a peek over his shoulder with 100 yards to travel as he cruised home by 14 lengths at 8/1.

Dewdrop took second, ahead of the other 2/1 joint favourite Niven

Handler Andy Oliver said: “He’s a big, backward horse, and was very babyish last year and again at Navan last time. We decided to ride him more positively and he’s done it well. He should have no problem staying a mile and a half.”

The Game Syndicate are from Monaghan and Tyrone.

Mega Fortune had finished sixth at Navan last month, a race in which Dewdrop came in third.
