Curragh Golan just prevailed in a head bobbing finish to the Carrickbyrne Handicap Chase at Wexford. Ballyfinboy led them down the hill in the two-and-a-half mile contest and was strongly pressed two from home by both Curragh Golan and Lenora

There was little to separate the trio on the run-in with Curragh Golan and Ballyfinboy flashing past the line together.

Garrett Power 's charge got the verdict by head under Paul Townend. There was a further back to Lenora.

The winner was making his first start since finishing second at Listowel last September. It was a double on the card for Townend after the earlier victory of Henry's Girl

"The horses were sick for nearly two months solid, they are all just starting to come back now,” revealed Power.

“They are all running great and it's absolutely fantastic. Anything we are running has been in the money or there or thereabouts. Yes Sir Brian (unseated) was a bit unlucky up north.

"Paul gave this fellow a super ride. He loves it around here and jumps for fun. I hope the handicapper isn't too hard on him now.

“He'll go for another handicap, he just likes these easy tracks. He always seemed to have that bit more in hand but when it comes to the crunch he probably doesn't kill himself. Once he comes home in front I don't mind!"
