Newcomer Chapmanshype ran out a good winner of the last at Punchestown, the Punchestown Winter Festival Flat Race.

Trained by Liz Doyle, the son of Aizavoski was available at 25/1 this morning, but opened on-course at just 12s, before going off a 10/1 chance in the colours of owner Neil Tector.

Settled in mid-division by Richie Deegan, the bay four-year-old was pushed along in fourth from the on the approach to the straight.

It was until a furlong and a half from home that he really got going, sweeping through to lead inside the 200 yards before going on to score by three and a quarter lengths.

There was a three way go for second, with Behind The Curtain (5/1) just filling the runner-up spot a head in front of Golazo and Bathiva (10/3) who dead-heated for third.

Golazo was returned the well-backed 4/7 favourite, with Patrick Mullins aboard this one for his father Willie.

"He's nice and I thinks he excels on nice ground," said Doyle.

"Aizavoski is a very good sire. He's always worked really well this horse and I just thought we'd get a real good notch of improvement out of him on the good ground.

"He got a beautiful ride as he let it all happen up front and then went and got them.

"He has a good speedy pedigree so it was the right race to run him in and I'm very very pleased.

"I'm still trying to convince everybody I can train winners too but he will have to be sold.

"Rob (Tector) that led him up today owns most of him and he's the breeder as well. It'll get him a few quid and get him started.

"He worked for Willie for two years and he's back with me for the last year. It's great for him and hopefully he'll sell."
