Beau Recall ground down the hotpot Member State to get off the mark in the extended seven furlong claiming maiden at Tipperary.

Member State travelled well at the head of affairs over two furlongs out as Beau Recall chased him in second.

Beau Recall was switched to the inside by Leigh Roche with a furlong to go and the pair soon reduced the deficit to Member State.

Beau Recall stayed on stoutly to lead in the final 100 yards and won going away by a length and three parts at 4/1.

Member State was returned the 8/11 favourite and he took second, three and a quarter lengths ahead of Olympic Legend (14/1).

There was an on-course gamble on Twist Of Magic (16/1 to 9/1), however, she was a further length away in fourth.

Trainer Ado McGuinness said: “She had a bit of a problem after she ran the first day. She ran very green then and pulled a muscle so needed a bit of time off.

“I always knew she would improve. I had her in a couple of races last weekend but this looked a weaker race on paper.

“She's very sharp at home. I bought her for the lads at Tattersalls last year and the aim was to win a race and sell her so we'll see what we do now.

“She'll probably get a high enough rating as it was a good race she ran in the first day.”

This was Beau Recall's second outing. On debut he finished fifth of 10 in a six furlong Fairyhouse maiden in June.

Emmet Mullins claimed Member State for €20,000 after this race.
