The triple Grade One winning hurdler (who routed his rivals in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham) starts out on his chasing career here and if taking to the bigger obstacles it could be a very special career. He is impossible to oppose today. He's unbeaten in five hurdle races on Irish and English soil and is familiar with this track having won his maiden hurdle here last December. Trip and ground aren't an issue and he ought to win well. Minella Foru reached a level of 137 over hurdles compared to Vautour's 158. He has the benefit of a run over fences when third behind Sizing Granite in Naas, beaten six lengths. Much more is needed to trouble the hot favourite, but he has place claims. Viconte du Noyer was third at this venue in a two mile novice chase. He has the opportunity to pick up some place money. Clarcam is rated 140 over hurdles and could be a more than useful recruit to the chasing ranks, but it is hard to see him beating Vautour. He receives the four-year-old allowance.
