FormscanBy Gary Carson - Only three runners but a fascinating contest and the vote goes to TOMBELAINE, who impressed with the way he quickened to win on his debut here. That looked a good race on the day and the form has been franked since with the runner-up Highland Reel very impressive at Gowran. Judged on Dermot Weld's comments after the race you'd feel that he expects a good bit of improvement from his charge. As with many of his stable-mates Gleneagles came forward a good bit from his debut run and won in good style at the Curragh late last month. The form of the race looks a touch questionable but he looked a classy sort and is the obvious danger to the selection. He is expected to reverse placings now with Convergence who won the maiden in which he was fourth here on his debut. Ger Lyons' charge was making his third start then and was gaining victory after a couple of decent runs behind smart rivals. He doesn't look open to the improvement of the other two but still looks a useful sort and can't be discounted.
