FormscanBy Michael Graham - A cracking race in prospect. ILLUSIVE has the potential to be a blot on the handicap here. He has been handed a mark of 82 to go to war with in this his first handicap, however, Donnacha O'Brien takes 10lbs off and he could be thrown in off 72 having got off the mark in a Leopardstown maiden. He has the aid of first-time blinkers. Miller Beach is vastly more experienced and also won last-time out in Naas. He is up to 73 now, but has never been rated in the 70s before. Mezogiorno, who was beaten a head by him, comes back for more and has a big pull in the weights so he should be very competitive here. Amazing Star has a 9lb hike to deal with after also winning in Leopardstown. He stayed on strongly and put three lengths on the runner-up so that rise may not be insurmountable. Jim Bolger's Intensified had a better result when stepped up to a mile in his last race. Although he never looked like winning he kept on well for second. If getting back to the level that saw him give War Command and Sir John Hawkins a fright last year then he will be a major contender.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (80 = 10st)Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse.
