FormscanBy Alan Magee - AWESOME STAR went into the notebook as a certain future winner after making a belated debut at the Curragh just under a fortnight ago. The John Oxx-trained son of Sea The Stars ran green and took plenty of time to get into gear but he stayed on really well in the closing stages to suggest this extra quarter mile will be right up his street. The fourth from that Curragh event has given the form a boost by winning since. Massinga has a similar profile to the selection and, being from the Weld camp, is sure to be primed for this. She also took a while to find her stride on debut but came home nicely despite meeting some interference also over ten furlongs at Roscommon, and can be expected to progress considerably from that experience. Falkirk is the other big player here. The Montjeu colt also goes up in trip after a couple of outings earlier this year, and he didn’t enjoy the clearest of passages in the straight at Gowran Park last time when second to Good Tradition. A number of winners have come out of that race, and it probably represents the strongest piece of form.
