FormscanBy Alan Magee - Noel Meade put forward APACHE STRONGHOLD as a horse to follow over fences in a recent stable tour, and it’s easy to see why the trainer is excited by the Milan gelding. The selection landed the Grade 2 Monksfield Novice Hurdle with ease at Navan 11 months ago but missed most of the remainder of the season, although he still got back to fill the runner-up spot behind Vautour at the Punchestown Festival. The six-year-old has reportedly schooled well and, with Meade dreaming of targets like the Jewson or RSA Chase at Cheltenham, a winning debut over fences is fully expected. Stamina is the strong point of Thunder And Roses but he appears to lack the gears of the selection, while Plan A was formerly placed in competitive races like the County Hurdle and Galway Hurdle but has failed to reach similar heights over fences. Vive La France can take a strong hold but caught the eye on his Irish debut at the Punchestown Festival and is an interesting recruit to chasing.
