FormscanBy Tom Weekes - VERY WOOD took a huge stride forward when winning the Albert Bartlett Hurdle at Cheltenham last month and, being a Grade 1 winner, is likely to figure prominently in this. He was beaten by Apache Jack in January but appeared in much better form at Cheltenham when seeming to relish the step up in trip. Beat That is also a Grade 1 winner (on his latest start at Aintree) and comes here fit and well with conditions also in his favour. A reproduction of that latest Aintree performance would give him every chance. Don Poli comes out, weight adjusted, by 4lbs on top and while he owes much of that rating to his fine handicap hurdle win (albeit in a lesser handicap) at Cheltenham, has yet to race at Grade 1 level. While he stays well and likes a sound surface, it will be interesting to see if he can maintain his improvement, back in this level weights event. Lots Of Memories had hinted at plenty ability prior to his recent handicap hurdle rout at Fairyhouse and cannot be dismissed, again over this staying trip. There was little wrong with Apache Jack's latest three efforts but he might prove vulnerable to a classier types. Shanahan%B4s Turn should appreciate the step up in trip but has plenty to find while Thunder And Roses looks exposed at this grade.
