FormscanBy Donal Murphy - FAUGHEEN is an extremely talented individual, and dropping back in trip to two miles should pose no threat to the Willie Mullins trained bay. He won a bumper over the distance at the Festival last May, beating Josses Hill by twenty-two lengths. That performance is made all the more astounding when you consider Josses Hill went on to win Grade Two over hurdles at the Aintree Grand National meeting, while he has also finished second in two Grade One contests, including the Supreme Novices' at the Cheltenham Festival. Ruby Walsh, who returned from injury to win on Un De Sceaux in France on Saturday, will be aboard the six-year-old, and it is hard to look beyond the Rich Ricci owned gelding. Western Boy is given second preference on account of his excellent run when finishing just three parts of a length second to Vautour over the course and distance in January. He was then far from disgraced when coming seventh in the Supreme Novices' on his next start, and he should give a good account of himself here with Davy Russell in the saddle. Sgt Reckless was second to Josses Hill at Aintree, and when he finished fourth in the Supreme Novices' he had four of his rivals here behind him. Another solid effort looks likely from the Mick Channon trained gelding who will be ridden by Tony McCoy. Wicklow Brave was disappointing at Fairyhouse on his last start, but at his best he can't be discounted, while Valseur Lido may struggle in a contest of this quality. The Liquidator won the Champion Bumper over the course and distance at the Festival last year, and while he has been disappointing on his last two starts he can't be ruled out.
